Short tutorial on properly apply fiberglass fabric with WEST SYSTEM Epoxy. Applying Fiberglass Fabric with WEST SYSTEM Epoxy.

Fiberglass Supply: EPOXY RESINS Fiberglass Supply has been supplying quality epoxy resins, coatings, and adhesives to discriminating craftsmen for over thirty years. During this period an increasing variety of epoxy formulations have become available for various applications that include thorough documentation, availability in economical quantities and are well suited to specific applications.

WHICH RESIN TO USE?? EPOXY vs. POLYESTER: Epoxy adheres to wood much better than polyester does. To cover wood, a laminate using epoxy resin and 10 oz, cloth will yield a much better job than 10 oz. cloth and polyester resin. The epoxy/cloth laminate is comparable to using polyester resin with 3/4 oz. mat and 10 oz. cloth however the epoxy laminate requires much less labor to fair.

Resin only on wood or must have cloth: I would suggest laying the epoxy down first and allowing it to soak into the plywood for a few minutes, then squeegeeing the cloth into the epoxy- I have found it easier to work all those tiny little air bubbles out with this method than with the resin-on-top procedure (and the epoxy soaks into the ply a little before the glass is laid, thus.

Applying Fiberglass Cloth with marine grade WEST SYSTEM Epoxy: Pour a small pool of epoxy resin/hardener near the center of the cloth. Spread the epoxy over the fiberglass cloth surface with a plastic spreader, working the epoxy gently from the pool into the dry areas. Use a foam roller or brush to wet out fabric on vertical surfaces. Properly wet out fabric is transparent.
